Class Content:

  • Overview of sharks and their different species.
  • Discussion about the importance of sharks in the marine ecosystem.
  • Explore shark senses, with a focus on hearing and its significance for their survival.
  • Investigation of shark buoyancy using oil and its impact on their ability to float.
  • Shark art: Learn about shark teeth and their various shapes and functions. Students will create their own shark tooth necklace using clay.


  • Large container filled with water
  • Sandwich sized Ziploc bag
  • Vegetable oil 
  • Dark colored sharpie (optional)
  • Modeling clay (playdoh can be an alternative if you don’t have clay)
  • Toothpicks or other tools to create ridges or serrated edges in teeth
  • String for a necklace
