Held on Tuesday, July 30th at 10am EST (recorded for replay or those who may have missed the live class)
Geared towards ages 5-8 (siblings welcome).
Objective: Discover the fascinating world of sharks and explore their unique characteristics.
Class Content:
- Overview of sharks and their different species.
- Discussion about the importance of sharks in the marine ecosystem.
- Explore shark senses, with a focus on hearing and its significance for their survival.
- Investigation of shark buoyancy using oil and its impact on their ability to float.
- Shark art: Learn about shark teeth and their various shapes and functions. Students will create their own shark tooth necklace using clay.
Materials:
- Large container filled with water
- Sandwich sized Ziploc bag
- Vegetable oil
- Dark colored sharpie (optional)
- Modeling clay (playdoh can be an alternative if you don’t have clay)
- Toothpicks or other tools to create ridges or serrated edges in teeth
- String for a necklace
