About a year ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Elan, a like-minded entrepreneur, as we both embarked on our journeys to support and empower homeschooling families. Our shared passion for education and creating valuable resources for parents and students brought us together. I was thrilled to be invited as a guest on her podcast, “Homeschool Our Way.” It was an opportunity to catch up, exchange ideas, and discuss essential strategies for helping children succeed in science education.
During our podcast session, we focused on one primary goal: equipping parents and educators with the tools they need to inspire and nurture a love for science in the hearts of their young learners. We kicked off our podcast with a lively discussion about creating a science-friendly environment at home. As parents and educators, we know that the learning environment plays a significant role in shaping a child’s interest in science.
We also delved into the skills parents can help their children develop to think like scientists. Scientific thinking goes beyond memorizing facts and formulas; it’s about critical thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry.
Perhaps one of the most vital takeaways from our conversation was the importance of creating a supportive atmosphere. In this nurturing environment, mistakes are seen as opportunities for growth, and questions are welcomed with open arms. We encouraged parents and educators to foster a culture of inquiry, exploration, and learning through experiences.
My time on the “Homeschool Our Way” podcast was a memorable experience. Elan’s dedication to helping families, particularly those of color, embark on their homeschooling journey is truly commendable. Her podcast is a valuable resource and I’m grateful to have been a part of it.
